Dear Melanie,
Riva is awesome!!! I wanted to fill you in on our first few days together.
She’s a dream dog! She’s spunky at times and completely chill at others. From the very first night she’s been staying quiet all night until past 6am in the morning. The first couple of night she whined for maybe 3 minutes and then settled down. Our only trouble was that she was piddling just tiny bit just as I was taking her out of her crate in the morning. She’d stay dry all night but I think the excitement of being greeted in the morning was causing her to have a hard time keeping it all in. While I know that things can change in a night I am excited to say that she went into her crate last night without a single peep/cry/whine at 10:30pm, not a sound all night or in the morning. I came down around 6:15 and not only did she stay dry all night but she also stayed dry when I took her out. She’s amazing! She loves to fetch. She’s been loving the snow. She’s been to the airport, the orthodontist, the kids school, her Auntie’s home, and yesterday to the vet. They loved her there and first impression I am completely impressed with their operation. Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital is a gorgeous facility and everyone from the woman on the phone, to the front desk staff, to the vet tech to the vet herself were all warm, loving, engaged and still professional. Dr. Dockweiler was so sweet with Riva. She even trimmed the hair around her eyes for me. (I’ll attach some pics below and I’m telling you all of this in case anyone in the area is looking for a vet. The facility came recommended by a trusted friend of mine.)
She’s very nippy so we’re working on that with redirecting with lots of chew toys. She wasn’t eating much the fist few days (especially the kibble but she was eating the pumpkin/goat yogurt mix) but she’s starting to eat more as of yesterday. Right now she’s just chilling on my lap as I sit at my computer. I just love her!!
We are all falling in love with Riva fast!! Even Zach, who you probably noticed was a bit apprehensive. Ezra is always ready to help walk her and play with her and she has definitely stolen Josh’s heart as well! Just wanted to thank you again. Please let us know when you’re heading in so we can see if we can swing by with Riva. Until then, enjoy al the other sweet pups you have at home.
Puppy love,
Jen, Josh, Zach and Ezra
